Two Lives and Too Many

In a life where you live for two and for too many, it's tough sometimes,
To grasp the idea of letting go, moving on, or saying goodbye.
It just feels wrong, hard to understand,
To leave behind dreams, passions, someone dear,
And find your heart scattered in pieces unclear.

It's okay, no need to make it make sense
To follow the usual path that brings in more cash,
Ensuring there's food on the table, smiles on their face,
Even if it means putting your own dreams down,
And ignoring all those motivational speeches,
Not because they're false, but because we're still figuring it out.

Yes, it is powerful to fight for what you want, your plan A, or your first love.
But, man oh man oh man, the strength it takes to give up, to let go when it's time,
To shed tears behind a brave smile,
And keep moving forward despite.

Life and situations happen to the best of us,
Just to turn you into the worst of us,
Leaving us with so much,
Two dreams, two passions, two plans, two people,
Where the heart is just not in two but too many pieces.

It's easy to believe our capacity to learn, plan, and love is finite,
Especially when with a torn dream or a heart's broken plight.
But believe it or not, slowly, you'll heal; Time heals, it's true.
Your capacity to live and love will grow, renew.
Holding a space in your heart, and moving on to find other great loves,
Finally this time, to living a full life.

While writing this, I really, really hope,
That you won't have to bear the weight of the fighter's rope,
That it never comes to a point where you have to give up and accept your fate,
Instead, it all falls into place,
And you find your way, to where you want to be,
To be someone you're proud of, not stuck in a responsibility.

But even if you can't break free from it all,
Remember, you've already started something,
A small change that ripples out,
A reminder of the strength within you and us all.
